The Charlotte Hornets continue their exceptional streak! Down by 22 points against the New Orleans Pelicans, Charles Lee’s squad completed a spectacular comeback to win 102-95 and secure their seventh consecutive victory. A performance that brings them dangerously close to the Hawks for the tenth spot in the Eastern Conference.
LaMelo Ball, leader despite an impressive collision
The game started with a spectacular incident involving LaMelo Ball and his coach Charles Lee. While attempting to save a ball going out of bounds, the Hornets’ point guard collided head-on with his coach, suffering a laceration to his eye that forced him to temporarily leave the court.

Ball returned to the floor and made his point quickly. After absorbing another hit to the face from Jeremiah Fears, he answered with a three, then closed the first half with 18 points, fueled by three makes from deep. He finished with 24, anchoring the comeback and serving as its focal point as the game turned.
An offensive surge in the second half
Down 64-49 at halftime after committing 17 turnovers and shooting only 7/30 from 3-point range, the Hornets completely changed their game coming out of the locker room. A 10-0 run to start, punctuated by an alley-oop between LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges, put Charlotte back in the game.
Kon Knueppel (17 points, four 3-pointers made), Brandon Miller and Grant Williams (16 points each) made their offensive contributions. Rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner also stood out with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks in a decisive stretch between the third and fourth quarters.
The Pelicans crack despite Murphy III
On the New Orleans side, Trey Murphy III delivered a remarkable performance with 27 points, attempting to keep his team afloat. Zion Williamson added 14 points and 11 rebounds, while rookie Derik Queen contributed 16 points. But the Pelicans couldn’t handle the Hornets’ pressure down the stretch, suffering their sixth loss in their last nine games.
This seventh consecutive victory ties the Hornets’ best streak since March 2016. Charlotte will have the opportunity to break this record Thursday night on the Houston Rockets’ court, in what promises to be another test for this confident team.
