ASVEL without Ben Bentil for several weeks, in addition to Lauvergne

ASVEL records the injury of a second big man. After Joffrey Lauvergne, it’s Benjamin Bentil (6’8″, 29) who joins the injury list for « several weeks » according to Le Progrès. The Ghanaian forward suffered an adductor injury according to our information. Therefore, it seems unlikely to see him play again with ASVEL in EuroLeague this season. However, he should be able to return for the Betclic ELITE playoffs.
Used less than 7 minutes against Olympiacos last Tuesday, the former Châlons-Reims player didn’t play Thursday against Zalgiris Kaunas nor against Élan Chalon on Sunday. Since joining ASVEL, Ben Bentil has played 17 games, averaging 6.3 points on 53.1% shooting and 2.5 rebounds in 12 minutes in Betclic ELITE and 4.4 points on 35.3% shooting and 2.3 rebounds in 13 minutes in EuroLeague.
Only two professional big men still available
Without these two players, Pierric Poupet and his staff will have to rely on a very limited frontcourt with centers Neal Sako and Tarik Black, young Paul Mbiya – currently visiting a university campus in the United States – as well as small forward/power forward Andre Roberson and possibly David Lighty used as a stretch four. As for Charles Kahudi, he hasn’t played for over a month but should return soon.
