Raphaël Boum (1.96 m, 18 years old) had an exceptional evening Friday night at La Trocardière. Against Pro B leader Blois, the young Nantes Basket Hermine forward shined with 16 points and 8 rebounds, in what was his longest time on the court with the professional team.
Raphaël Boum, NBH’s X-factor
Free from relegation pressure, Nantes held their own against leader Blois (67-76), never really falling behind. Missing three key players, NBH relied on the energy of Raphaël Boum, from their youth ranks, to fill the gaps.
Playing for 31 minutes, Boum delivered a complete performance with 16 points at 60% shooting, 8 rebounds and a 20 efficiency rating. « I didn’t expect to have a game like this, » he admitted after the match. « My teammates and coach pushed me to excel. The season isn’t over, I need to keep working hard. »

His coach Rémy Valin praised his young player’s performance, comparing it to Bilal Coulibaly’s notable debut a few seasons ago: « Bilal Coulibaly played his first game against me at Fos and Raphaël gave us a little Coulibaly tonight, he was intense. He’s improving and made good decisions. He’s worked hard all season with both the youth team and us. The key is consistency. »
Even Blois coach David Morabito made a point to congratulate him: « Young Boum had an extraordinary game. »
Already performing well with the youth team this season (16.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists in 26 games), Raphaël Boum shows he’s ready to take the next step. By Saturday, he was back in action with the youth team in the Pro B playoffs round of 16. With a clear ambition: « We want to go all the way and win. »
