Zaccharie Risacher (6’9″, 20 years old), young forward for the Atlanta Hawks, was a guest on First Team on the eve of the U18 Women’s French Cup final, held at the Accor Arena in Paris. Present to support his sister Ainhoa Risacher, he discussed EuroBasket 2025, the next major event he’s aiming for with the French national team.
At just 20 years old, Zaccharie Risacher is one of French basketball’s great hopes. After his first NBA season with the Atlanta Hawks, the former JL Bourg player now dreams of a summer in blue. But the forward knows he’ll have to prove himself to make Frédéric Fauthoux’s final roster for EuroBasket 2025, which will be held in Poland and potentially Latvia for the final phases.
« I’ll have to earn my spot. That’s what I want to do this summer. I want to represent my country on the European stage, » Risacher told First Team. Aware of the expectations placed on him, the Malaga native doesn’t hide his enthusiasm about joining a French team in generational transition: « There’s a lot of excitement, desire. There’s a generational change (in the national team), I’m very excited to be part of it. »
Trained in the French youth system, Zaccharie Risacher also emphasizes the importance of the legacy passed down by his seniors: « Growing up, we were very well prepared to take over. We had great examples. I’m just really looking forward to earning my spot during the preparation for this Euro. »
The road to EuroBasket 2025 is therefore full of challenges for Zaccharie Risacher, but the 2023 U19 World Cup silver medalist seems ready to take on the challenge with determination.
