After putting her career on hold for maternity leave following the Paris 2024 Olympics, Alexia Chery (1.90m, 26 years old) has signed with ESBVA-LM for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 seasons. An experienced addition for the Warriors, who welcome one of French women’s basketball’s most decorated players.

A champion with an impressive record

At 26, Alexia Chartereau has already experienced almost everything. Trained at Coulaines and then at Pôle France, she achieved successive successes with Bourges (2016-2021) and ASVEL Féminin (2021-2024). French champion, winner of the French Cup and EuroCup, she also has 114 caps with the French national team, earning numerous international medals, including Olympic bronze in Tokyo 2021 and silver at Paris 2024.

Named LFB MVP in 2020-2021, after being crowned best young player twice, she will strengthen Villeneuve’s interior sector with her shooting accuracy, team spirit, and recognized leadership.

An anticipated return after a year’s break

Alexia Chery (formerly Chartereau) has decided to take a break for the 2024-2025 season for a happy event, alongside her husband Valentin Chery, player for BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque. She will return to competition in summer 2025, with ESBVA-LM as her new team. A choice praised by general manager Christophe Vitoux:

« Her return to competition after a season off for maternity leave will make her come back even more determined and performing, similar to Mariême Badiane and Valériane Ayayi upon their return, » he stated in the club’s press release.

ESBVA-LM is already looking to the future by laying the first stone of what promises to be an ambitious 2025-2026 roster. But for now, the focus is on the playdowns, where the Warriors will need to show the same fighting spirit expected from their future recruit.
