Le Mans is not invincible. Impressive for several weeks, whether in the Leaders Cup, French Cup, or even in the championship, MSB fell this Saturday evening in Dijon in a heated atmosphere. Defeated 76-74 by JDA during this 22nd day of Betclic ELITE, Guillaume Vizade’s men fell after a poorly managed finale. Le Mans meets Dijon’s solid resistance
After winning the Leaders Cup and confirming their form by eliminating AS Monaco again in the French Cup the previous weekend, Le Mans came to Dijon full of confidence. But on JDA’s court, MSB lacked consistency and efficiency in key moments.
« There are certain aspects of the game where it wasn’t enough, » regretted Guillaume Vizade. « We started the third quarter rather well but couldn’t finish. We let Ilias Kamardine gain confidence by not contesting enough. Their game expanded, and we lost too many duels. » The Le Mans coach also praised Axel Julien’s game management: « He masterfully led the game. »
A decisive fourth quarter for JDA
MSB let the opportunity slip away in money time, particularly suffering from a strong opponent run. « I think we lost the game before the last possession, » said Noah Penda. « We let them gain confidence especially in the fourth quarter where they had a big run. There was a lack of aggressiveness, we were soft on the finishes. »
Despite this defeat, Le Mans maintains good overall momentum. However, this loss can serve as a warning as the final sprint approaches in Betclic ELITE. Caution is needed with SLUC Nancy’s comeback, now just one win behind the Sarthe team for seventh place, the first play-in spot.
