Jazz Gardner is the son of Jelani Gardner and a French woman he met during his career in France (Saint-Etienne, Reims, Brest, Châlons-en-Champagne, GET Vosges, Nantes and Blois).
Rated as a "four-star" in high school, the Californian was recruited by many prestigious programs (Texas Tech, Missouri, Kansas, USC, Dayton, St Mary's, Pepperdine and Santa Barbara), but chose to join Nevada. After playing for the French U18 national team during the European Challengers in 2021, he hasn't returned to the French youth teams since.
After attending Los Altos HS, Jazz Gardner played his freshman season with the Wolf Pack but had very limited playing time during his freshman NCAA season. Nevada qualified for the March Madness 2024. His younger brother Jaiyon Gardner is also a promising French-American prospect.
