Player Profile
Oscar Wembanyama started basketball relatively late. The younger brother of Eve Wembanyama and Victor Wembanyama, he played handball for a long time before being convinced to try basketball.
Starting with Nanterre, he averaged 3.8 points per game in U15 ELITE in 2021-2022. Subsequently, he joined ASVEL's youth academy, while his brother returned to Hauts-de-Seine at the same time to play for the Metropolitans 92.
At ASVEL, he first played a full season in U18 ELITE (21 games in 2022-2023, averaging 5.6 points per game). In 2023-2024, Oscar Wembanyama made his first appearances in Espoirs ELITE in December 2023. However, hampered by injuries, he mainly played in U18 ELITE (6.8 points). His team also qualified for the U17 French Cup final, although he couldn't participate in the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
