Trevor Hudgins after Le Mans – Strasbourg: « Good preparation for the French Cup final »
Le Mans Sarthe Basket gained confidence ahead of their big game at Accor Arena. Against SIG Strasbourg, MSB delivered a solid performance, winning 90-70 during the 26th day of Betclic ELITE. Eight days before the French Cup final against Paris Basketball, Guillaume Vizade’s team showed good intent while maintaining areas for improvement.
A controlled victory before Paris
From the start of the game, Le Mans took control through improved shooting accuracy. « At the beginning of the game, we shot well enough to build momentum and finished the half strong, » commented Guillaume Vizade after the game. The Le Mans coach particularly emphasized his players’ defensive intensity after halftime: « The game took shape when we tightened our defense, especially in one-on-one situations in the second half. »
At point guard, Trevor Hudgins (5’11 », 26 years old) perfectly controlled MSB’s tempo. « We had a good start to the game. It gave us confidence, » he acknowledged, satisfied with the collective intensity shown. « We shared the ball well and played for each other. It’s a great home performance and good preparation for the French Cup game on Saturday. »
While the victory was clear, the Le Mans coach wasn’t pleased with the late-game letdown: « We should have been extremely collective and enjoyed the game. We fell into poor quality basketball in the last 5 minutes. »
Despite this minor frustration, Le Mans checked several boxes before their big game on April 26 at Bercy. With Trevor Hudgins in good form (22 points) and solid defense in place, MSB can approach the final against Paris with ambition.
