Jaylen Hoard (2.04m, 26 years old), who has broken out this season in EuroLeague with Maccabi Tel-Aviv, has expressed his desire to stay with the Israeli club. But while he hasn’t received any extension offer, Monaco has come back with interest, ready to open their checkbook to bring the French international back.

Monaco insists on bringing Hoard back

« I want to stay, » declared Jaylen Hoard this week in front of Sport 5 cameras, after Maccabi Tel-Aviv’s victory against Hapoel Galil Gilboa (80-73) in the Israeli championship. « The last three years in Tel-Aviv have been the best of my life. If I could stay longer, it would be incredible. » But the 25-year-old French power forward also acknowledged that not everything was in his control: « A lot of things happen behind the scenes. »

Despite an impressive first EuroLeague season – 3rd in playing time, 2nd in steals, and 10th in efficiency rating – Maccabi hasn’t yet offered him a new contract. Hoard is under contract until 2026, but with an estimated salary of less than $500,000, far below his new status.

In this context, Monaco has renewed its interest, according to Walla Sports, with an offer of around $1.3 million annually. Already interested last season, the Roca Team would welcome Hoard’s arrival, who counts as a locally trained player (JFL) in France. The French international would also be just three hours away from his home in Carnon, south of Montpellier.

A complex situation behind the scenes

For two months, Jaylen Hoard has been represented by influential agent Miško Ražnatović, who is also close to 2002 French champion Nikola Vujčić, former Maccabi sports director who remains active behind the scenes. These relationships fuel rumors about a possible transfer.

Internally, Maccabi is experiencing tensions, particularly regarding club management following the appointment of new GM Claudio Coldebella. The Hoard case is shaping up to be a first test to evaluate the actual resources that will be at his disposal.

It remains to be seen whether the Israeli club will manage to keep their French star, or choose to capitalize on him this summer.
