Having joined SIG Strasbourg in 2001, Jérôme Rosenstiehl has experienced all levels of the club: Sports Director, Operations Director, Administrative and Financial Director, then Executive Director. In 2021, he left the club to join the Paris 2024 Olympic Games organization as basketball operations manager. At 49, this Alsatian native returns to lead a club he knows inside out.
His election, confirmed Thursday by the Supervisory Board, shows a desire for anticipation and continuity in club governance. Alongside Rosenstiehl, the Executive Board will also include two new names: Strasbourg singer Matt Pokora, already involved in the project, and Clément Hagenbach. Jean-Louis Koessler and Bernard Braun’s mandates were also renewed.
Jérôme Rosenstiehl will succeed Christophe Lasvigne, who has been in office since January 2023. A planned and prepared handover, as the club explains in its statement: « This early vote aims to ensure an effective transition between Christophe Lasvigne and Jérôme Rosenstiehl. »
For his part, Supervisory Board Chairman Christophe Schalk praised « the work accomplished and daily commitment » of Lasvigne during the past 18 months. He also expressed being « delighted with the prospects opening up for the seasons ahead. »
For now, Jérôme Rosenstiehl keeps his focus on the court. « The current priority is on the field with an end of season full of challenges and promises around a team driven by new momentum, » he stated in the club’s press release. Before looking ahead: « Once the season is over, it will be time to talk about the future. »
Speaking of the immediate future, a crucial game awaits this Saturday at 6 PM against Dijon, currently ninth, in the race for the play-in tournament. SIG, still in contention, hasn’t said its last word in this Betclic ELITE season finale.
