Paris and Monaco join ASVEL at the top after narrow victory against Burgundy duo

This Sunday, April 20, matchday 26 of Betclic ELITE was favorable to the league’s top three teams. Paris, Monaco and ASVEL now each have 20 wins, although Roca Team remains penalized in the official standings. The Parisians held off Chalon-sur-Saône (100-97) while Monaco needed a basket from Mam Jaiteh in the final seconds to overcome Dijon (78-77).
Paris and Monaco win in thriller finishes
Two days before their first EuroLeague quarter-final match at Fenerbahce Istanbul, Paris had to dig deep to contain Élan Chalon’s comeback at the Adidas Arena. Thanks to another solid performance from T.J. Shorts and Nadir Hifi (18 points each), Tiago Splitter’s team won 100-97. Yakuba Ouattara, facing his former club, contributed 13 points and 7 rebounds in an offensive game where Paris seemed in control before some nervous moments in crunch time.

For its part, AS Monaco had to fight until the last second to secure a victory in Dijon. Trailing at halftime, Roca Team turned things around in the third quarter (16-23) before JDA came back. Finally, Mouhammadou Jaiteh scored the game-winner with 0.4 seconds remaining (78-77). Axel Julien’s last attempt to find Allan Dokossi on the inbound play was unsuccessful.
Alpha Diallo (2.01m, 27 years old), who just extended his contract for three more seasons, was Monaco’s top scorer (18 points), closely followed by Gregor Hrovat (17 points).

A high-stakes season finale
With this three-way tie at the top between Paris, Monaco (with one fewer loss but a penalty) and ASVEL (who beat Bourg on Friday), the end of the season promises to be particularly competitive. Behind them, JDA Dijon and Élan Chalon remain stuck at 12 wins and 14 losses, still in the race for the play-in but under pressure.
