Philippe Da Silva heading for a Nanterre exit? Saint-Quentin and Stade Rochelais on standby

While Julien Mahé’s arrival at Nanterre is being discussed for next season, Philippe Da Silva’s name is circulating around Saint-Quentin and La Rochelle according to Matthieu Marot from Populaire du Centre. The current head coach of the Paris region club could bounce back to one of these two clubs, truly beginning a new chapter in his career.
L’autre possibilité pour Philippe Da Silva serait de prendre place sur le banc de… Saint-Quentin s’il venait à se libérer. Dans ce cas, il serait même la priorité du club picard. https://t.co/vA8t8zJHZA

A new momentum for Philippe Da Silva?
According to our information, Philippe Da Silva has been announced as the #1 candidate for Saint-Quentin for two weeks and could experience his first complete experience as head coach of an LNB club outside his Paris region comfort zone. Also mentioned for Stade Rochelais, who are seeking a successor to Julien Cortey, the Franco-Portuguese now has several options to branch out. In La Rochelle, he could reunite with his close friend Michael Bur, who is in charge of the training center.
A former point guard born in Guimarães (Portugal) on November 30, 1979, Da Silva played extensively in the French championship. After ending his playing career in 2016 at Caen, he quickly transitioned to coaching, with his first experience at Cergy-Pontoise before joining Nanterre 92 in 2018. Laurent Sciarra’s close friend also served as video assistant with the French U19 men’s national team.
A loyal assistant to Pascal Donnadieu, he became head coach of the Paris region club in 2024. He experienced a transition season where he had to work with the still very active presence of the legendary coach on the bench. However, while results haven’t met expectations in Betclic ELITE (11th, with 14 losses in 24 matches), Nanterre qualified for the Basketball Champions League (BCL) quarter-finals.
The opportunity of a project at Saint-Quentin, in Betclic ELITE, or at La Rochelle, likely relegated to Pro B at the end of the season, could be the ideal setting to start a career matching his ambition.
