Player Profile

Kymany Houinsou is one of the prospects from the 2004 generation. More prominent among youth players than his 2004 peers, he was the only player of his age group along with Victor Wembanyama to be part of the French U16 team that won silver at the 2019 European Championship in Udine, Italy.

Son of a national-level basketball player, Kymany Houinsou trained at FC Mulhouse and ASSM Pfastatt where he achieved remarkable results. His success attracted ASVEL, which he joined in his U15 season. Quickly given responsibilities in Espoirs ELITE (U21), he also made his Betclic ELITE debut in the 2020-2021 season. However, his integration into the professional team was slower than he would have liked, and he ended up being loaned to Pro B team Saint-Quentin for the second half of the 2021-2022 season.

A versatile player, capable of playing all positions in NCAA, Kymany Houinsou had several options. While he had contact with German club Ulm, he ultimately chose to continue his development at Washington State. In his sophomore season in 2023-2024, the Alsatian player saw his role increase and the Cougars qualified for their first March Madness since 2008. After this successful season, he transferred to Loyola-Chicago.

Meanwhile, Kymany Houinsou missed several French national team campaigns. First, COVID-19 canceled the U16 Euro for his age group in 2020. Then in 2021, he only participated in the U18 EuroChallengers. In 2022, his generation finished a disappointing fifth place at the U18 EuroBasket. Finally, in 2023, he was not part of the U19 team that won silver at the World Championship. He also did not participate in the U20 campaign in 2024.
