After long being among the frontrunners this season in Pro B, Chorale de Roanne went through a difficult period that moved them away from the top of the championship. In any case, the club is beginning a deep structural transformation. According to our information, French-Croatian Zoran Cvjetkovic should be appointed sports director in the coming weeks.

A European profile for a club in reconstruction

Born in Sarajevo and raised in Paris, Zoran Cvjetkovic had a brief nomadic playing career between France, Germany, Austria, Romania and Bosnia. Quickly transitioning to become an agent, he moved up the ranks to become sports director of Aris Thessaloniki in the late 2010s. There, he distinguished himself by creating a partnership between the Greek club and HKK Zrinjski Mostar, his youth club. « I am a child of Mostar, I took my first steps in this club, » he said emotionally at the time.

From Bayern Munich to the Loire

Since 2023, Cvjetkovic had been working at Bayern Munich. He first managed the reserve team before becoming assistant to the professional team’s sports director. A career path that confirms his expertise in high-level structures.

A partnership with Thomas Andrieux

At Roanne, Zoran Cvjetkovic will now have to build a coherent and ambitious project… with a coach already in place. Indeed, Thomas Andrieux, former coach of Boulazac and Châlons-Reims, committed to Chorale for three seasons in spring 2024. It’s with him that the new sports director will have to collaborate to get the club back on track. A significant task, as the youth academy produces strong prospects, like Narcisse Ngoy (2.09 m, 20 years) who is flourishing in Rouen, but should still see some notable departures during the offseason.

By turning the page on an operation heavily centered around the professional team’s coach, particularly Jean-Denys Choulet, the Loire club seems to want to build a more structured organization with a long-term vision. This orientation is especially necessary as neighbor SCABB, with its very ambitious project, could become the flagship club of the Loire department.
