Player Profile
Thomas van Ounsem (Ixelles, 02-28-1999), 24 years old, joins Hubo Limburg United from French club Orchies. The young Belgian, capable of playing both power forward and center positions, has spent almost his entire career in France, which he deliberately chose from a very young age. At age 16, Van Ounsem left Belgium to settle in France and gain experience in a more physical youth league. After stints at Antibes, Bourg-en-Bresse and Bordeaux, he landed at Orchies, where he is considered one of the team's key strengths.
These experiences helped Thomas grow as a player, but certainly also on a personal level. He is known as a hard worker with a positive mindset. Thomas is also no stranger to the Belgian Lions, where he played for the U16, U18 and U20 teams!
Coach Westphalen has been following Thomas for several years: "Thanks to Niels, his name came up again and our interest was rekindled. Thomas's quick transition is a big plus for a 'big man'. He's also a good three-point shooter. Young, motivated and someone who wants to work for his team, truly someone who fits into our team!"
